90C might be hot for humans but not really for a piece of metal. 90C is just 363 K instead of the 293K Room temp and being 24% warmer isn´t a big deal for something that isn´t a lifeform. This. Keep what you’ve got. I’ve used both the D15s and a U12A on my 5800X3D. Both performed nearly identical. These are my temps on cinebench. "Best turbo/overclocking headroom", so yes. "Standing 158mm tall, the NH-U12A is short enough to fit most modern mid- or high-end tower cases." U12A absolutely fine for me on a 12700K. Admittedly, I am using a high airflow case (Corsair 7000D) but am also only running 2x intake and 1x exhaust. Let me know the pros and cons on both parts please. I am leaning towards the Noctua for clearance / DB noise compared to the IceGiant. Where a few reviews stated it had to be set on a higher fan curve compared to the NH-D15. But I do like IceGiants Thermal tech just the cooler is huge and will cover up a lot of the MOBO and RAM. Thanks,
Deepcool ak620 gives similar performance to the D15 and is usually cheaper. The thermalright peerless assassin and frost spirit perform extremely similarly for 1/3-1/2 of the price. The Frost Commander beats both of them by 2-4 degrees. It’s like 60w max while gaming, just blowing air at it would cool it /s.
Sebetter. • 2 yr. ago. You'll maybe get 1-3 degrees of better performance using thermal grizzly paste. Noctua's stuff is pretty decent though. Not worth it unless you're just doing it for the fun of it. 1. _vk22. • 2 yr. ago. NT-H1 that is included with NH-D15.
The Noctua NH-D15 is about 5C warmer than the H150i Elite Capellix AIO. You're already at 84C (without temp spikes considered) with a rather high OC. If you want to go the D15 route, consider dropping to 5Ghz with a lower voltage to get better temps and a longer lasting CPU. Remember, heat is one of the two major factors that contribute to CPUWe're answering the question of whether "liquid cooling or air cooling is better," ft. the Noctua NH-D15, Deepcool Assassin III, NZXT Kraken X62 / X72 (280mm One thing to note though is that the D15 has longevity on it’s side. Only real point of failure is the fan, and you can just mount a new one - it’s not like the heatsink itself will go bad. Noctua also has a historical reputation of providing mounting kits for new sockets so you can keep using it down the road. The Noctua compound is very good if you have enough left, and you won't see a huge improvement with other compounds - I switched to Thermal Grizzly, and saw maybe 1 DegC improvement on my 3900X. When cleaning, use alcohol and particle free wipes to make sure all surfaces are spotless and the NH-D15 surface is very shiny. if42.
